Arguments
~~~~~~~~~

:X matrix of floats or integers
: :y matrix of floats

Description
~~~~~~~~~~~

converts data stored using one, two or four bytes integers into double
precision floating point representation. If `X` entries are already
double precision floats, nothing is done.
